Oh, Forever Blowing Bubbles...

Many thanks to Frogma for this.

Dolphins and some whales can blow bubble rings. Here's a video clip of some dolphins blowing and playing with bubble rings for the shear fun of it. What a joy to watch. They have amazing control of them.

Who would want to harm such beautiful creatures? I am reminded of a part of the Jodo Shinshu "Golden Chain of Love" that reads, "I will try to be kind and gentle to every living thing and protect all who are weaker than myself." Namuamidabutsu.

A wonderful site...yet another place to visit! Who indeed would want to harm them? If I remember correctly the Greeks and Romans thought they were a sign of good luck as they swam along side ships....

That is way cool. I am wearing my Miami Dolphins jersey today in their honor. I hope the Navy backs off their high-powered sonar project. It's not worth saving America if all we leave behind is a garbage pit.

Thanks Frogma and thanks Pandab for sharing :) I think there is a Japanese cell phone commercial that shows a dolphin blowing a ring bubble. Anyway, the video was way cooler and calming.

Awesome! Such a joy to watch. Akin to watching small children at play. Thanks PandaB and Bonnie for sharing it.

Ladybug - unfortunately, people who use seine nets kill them often as they are "in the way" of catching tuna. And then there is the infamous dolphin "hunts" by some Japanese villages. Seems we humans have developed great skill with technology, but no wisdom or compassion to temper its use.

Don - wait a minute, is sonar on the gridiron legal? As for the Navy see my comment to Ladybug.

K&S - Thanks for visiting. I'm envious of your location right now in the warm latitudes of Hawaii!

Happysurfer - they are playful creatures, aren't they? I should take a page from that and cheer up more myself.

I'd love to try that in my bathtub but I'd need a lot of time to practice!

I'll stick to blowing mental smoke rings...

Thanks for posting it and making my day.
